Yelena is the Assistant Director at Tanger Hillel at Brooklyn College. She is dedicated to helping students who are under-served and under-resourced in their respective Jewish communities to develop appropriate resources and solutions for the social challenges of food insecurity and mental health that are unique to their cultures. Yelena is currently obtaining an MSW at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. By pursuing an MSW Yelena is seeking to deepen her understanding of community building, social policy, and human behavior. Yelena is a graduate of Baruch College with a degree in BBA with a focus on Human Resources and Industrial Organizational Psychology. She is originally from the Ukraine and grew up in Brooklyn, NY. After her college graduation Yelena spent a year volunteering in Kiev, Ukraine as a Jewish Service Corps Volunteer with the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee.
