Joselys Rosa Castillo is a Bronx native and proud Dominican American born to immigrant parents. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Lehman College (CUNY) and is pursuing her MSW at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College (CUNY), focusing on Clinical Practice with Individuals, Families, and Groups. As a first-generation student, from an underserved community, Joselys faced multiple hardships and had to learn how to make her voice heard. Her journey has inspired her to become a social worker and help create safe spaces for young adults within her community. In the future, Joselys intends to open a community center in the Bronx to provide resources and mental health services for the children, young adults, and parents of her community.
