Jaeliz Aponte is a Bronx born and raised woman who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and Psychology. Growing up in the Bronx, Jaeliz became aware of the unequal treatment many people in her community received, as well as their lack of support by the healthcare system. She learned that the healthcare system did not appropriately assist those who lacked resources or the educational background to address their health conditions. Jaeliz is currently pursuing her master’s degree to become Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to better assist and advocate for those in underprivileged communities. Her goal is to reduce health disparities in communities like the Bronx and improve the quality of life of those in underprivileged communities by raising awareness among health care providers about inequities in ethnic areas. Jaeliz hopes that, by raising awareness, many future hospitalizations can be prevented and lives can be enriched.
