Akilah David is a Graduate Student enrolled in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Advanced Certificate Program at Hunter College. She is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with over nineteen years experience across different specialties including neonatal, adult-intensive care, COVID-19 care, emergency room care, respiratory care, surgical care, and psychiatry. Akilah is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where she earned her Bachelor in Nursing Science. She earned her Family Nurse Practitioner and Master in Public Health from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center. Akilah has always cherished nursing and has balanced her work, school, and family life to be successful at various nursing endeavors and obtain skills to provide quality healthcare to others. She is currently a Fellow in the Cabrini-Hunter Fellowships for Social Work and Nursing Students Program looking forward to the Interprofessional Education training to enhance her mental health care knowledge and provide quality care to mental health patients. Akilah’s passion is to focus on the mental health of immigrant groups.
