Genesis Olivares is a first-year graduate student at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. She’s working towards her MSW, specializing in Clinical Practice with Individuals, Families, and Groups. Before entering the MSW program, Genesis received her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a Minor in Counseling. As the first member in her family to pursue a Master’s degree, this achievement holds great significance. In addition, Genesis is a Bronx native and her passion for social work stemmed from firsthand experiences seeing how challenges in life can impact individuals in a multitude of ways. As a prospective social worker, Genesis is determined to create a positive impact within her community.
