Born and raised in Brooklyn, Sydnee-Marie Edusei draws on her Caribbean and West African heritage to inform her work. After earning her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Gettysburg College, she discovered a passion for social justice, specifically addressing the mental health disparities that impact people of color and minority communities.
Currently pursuing her MSW at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College (CUNY), Sydnee-Marie is focusing on clinical practice with individuals, families, and groups. As an intern at Brooklyn Defender Services, she is gaining valuable experience in forensic social work, her chosen career path. She is dedicated to creating an affordable private practice that incorporates Afrocentric/Caribbean healing methods. Her ultimate aim is to make a lasting change through forensic social work and by conducting impactful research that advances evidence-based practices within the African diaspora.
