Jennifer Bottoms, BSN, RNC-NIC, has been a Neonatal ICU nurse for the past 20 years, and is currently enrolled in her final semester of study in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program. Jennifer’s primary interest is to create a safe and culturally competent space for Black families to combat barriers to optimal mental health, such as a lack of mental health providers of color, stigma, distrust of the healthcare system, and lack of resources. Given her NICU background, she is also focused on helping NICU parents work through the unique mental health challenges that arise due to traumatic delivery experiences, the death of an infant, or an extended hospital stay with a critically ill child.
